Break Up The Basics: The Only Ethnic Pieces You Will Ever Need

Being an Indian woman, each one of us has a wardrobe solely dedicated to ethnic wear. However, for some of us, it can get a little confusing while shopping for the same. With the change in the societal trends and more and more women getting out of their homes to work, practicality of a garment has become a top priority. This is a characteristic of the traditional wear that can sometimes clash with the fashion of today. Following are such staples that will make the process of pairing certain items and shopping for Indian wear a lot more easy. 

SOLID PANTS

Changing as much as only a piece of the outfit can bring a whole lot of variety in your wardrobe. Get either palazzo pants or cigarette pants or any other ethnic bottoms, depending on your style. Black, white, off-white, blue or whatever colours that you like and wear the most. This way, you can change up your kurtis pretty easily. You can pair it up with dressier pieces for parties, simple kurtis for an everyday look and crop tops and jackets for an indo-western look.

KURTIS

Solid kurtis or printed kurtis, the choice completely depends on how minimal you like your outfits to be. This is where you can have as much variety as you would like. STATEMENT DUPATTA

This is almost as important to have in your ethnic wardrobe as is having a pair of blue jeans in your western wardrobe.  It could be a printed one or an embroidered one; a statement dupatta should reflect your personality. There are so many different ways in which a dupatta can be used. You can pair it up with an all solid traditional ensemble, with a maxi dress, use it as a scarf with a dress, or drape it over a skirt and a crop top for a custom lehenga.

KOLHAPURIS

Kolhapuris sound dated, but in an honest opinion, they are given much less credit for what they deserve. Not only ethnic, they are suitable for even western wear. Simple kolhapuris are comfortable and are no different from flat sandals. Depending on the colour and style, they can be paired with literally anything. Moreover, they are so many modern variations of the same that are readily available.
